Energy Efficient Lighting for PA Businesses and Municipalities
Lighting accounts for 20-30% of the energy use in most commercial buildings. Lighting retrofits are the most reliable of building retrofits and due to their rapid return on investment, can often be used to finance other energy conservation measures. Because lighting creates heat which must be removed by air conditioning equipment, high efficiency lighting has the co-benefit of decreasing cooling costs.
Lighting improvements may include:
- Converting older T12 fluorescent fixtures to high efficiency T5 or T8 fixtures
- Bi-level switching
- Daylight harvesting
- Occupancy sensors
- Time clocks
- Photocells
