Air Sealing and Insulation

Energy efficiency begins with energy conservation. The easiest way to conserve energy is to reduce the air infiltration and improve the insulation in your building. Our team of air sealing contractors is highly capable of installing these improvements to help prevent air leakage and heat loss. While it may be easier to install additional insulation, both air sealing and insulation should be installed concurrently.

Air Sealing

The largest source of energy loss in a building is typically air infiltration. Air infiltration is the uncontrolled exchange of conditioned air with ambient air. By sealing your building using expandable foam, caulk and gaskets, infiltration can be reduced by up to 60%. Care has to be taken when reducing the infiltration in your building, to ensure no indoor air quality problems are created. Our team tests your building before and after the air sealing to make sure no issues exist. If the building is too tight, we take steps to ensure enough fresh air is introduced to the building using Energy Recovery Ventilators or Heat Recovery Ventilators.

Insulation

Most buildings and homes in Pennsylvania are under-insulated. By improving the insulation in your home or building, your utility bills will be significantly reduced. The walls and the attic(s) of your building can have insulation added.

Our preferred insulation is cellulose insulation. Cellulose out performs fiberglass insulation, and while cellulose slightly under-performs icynene insulation (R-3.2 vs R-3.3), cellulose is a benign product, before, during and after installation. When Envinity is on site, our team of insulation contractors prepares your home or building for the additional insulation. To keep your costs reasonable, we are able to purchase cellulose in bulk and we use our own equipment to install the insulation.

New Construction

In addition to retrofitting existing buildings and homes, Envinity is able to provide full insulation and air sealing services for new construction. We install cellulose using a "damp" spray application. The damp spray application allows cellulose to act more as foam within the walls, significantly reducing air infiltration while insulating the structure. Our team is usually on site for two to four days, depending on the size of the project. The site is left clean and ready for the interior finish.
