“We started out answering the carpenters’ questions but soon learned that through conversations and listening to their ideas we'd get a finished product that was much better than what we'd thought of.  Envinity always came to us for approvals before they started work but it didn't take us long to just trust them to have great ideas.  We hadn't pre-built this house in our minds and were very open to ideas that incorporated Envinity’s experience and craftsmanship.  We were never disappointed.”

“Envinity understands what we are trying to accomplish from an environmental perspective.  Theirs is a like-minded approach.  It’s nice that we didn’t have to educate with respect to conservation and sustainable building.”

Mark McLaughlin Director of Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center

“Right away, I knew that Envinity was different.  They were experienced.  Sustainable building wasn’t just an afterthought for them. Each of their projects is grounded in energy conservation. With respect to green, sustainable building, Envinity had a level of expertise that none of the other contractors came close to matching. And after looking at some of their building projects, my partner and I were relieved to know that we wouldn’t have to sacrifice luxury or craftsmanship in our pursuit of a green addition.”

“We didn’t just want a general understanding of our energy usage. We knew that Envinity would deliver a plan that we could use to actually implement recommendations, along with associated payback for each recommendation.”

"From our first interaction with Envinity to our last, we have been nothing short of impressed and satisfied.  Every email, phone call, and visit has been friendly and professional.  During our initial meeting, Brian took the time to listen to our needs and conducted a thorough visit in our home to see how we could make it more efficient and impressed us with his knowledge and understanding of the process.  The crew worked very hard during installation, treating our home as if it were their own, and answered all questions or concerns we had.  They clearly know what it takes to make a home more comfortable and energy efficient and we have immediately seen the results in our electric bills.  We love our home now more than ever and it's all thanks to Envinity."

"About three years ago, we began the process of making our home more energy efficient.  The first thing we did was contact Envinity who came out and did a blower door test on our house.  Brian Henderson, who is the manager of residential energy services for Envinity, walked around our house with a smoke wand while the fan sucked air out of our house.  I was astounded at the number of air leaks!  No wonder our home was so uncomfortable during the winter.

Since we were replacing the siding, Brian suggested we add 1” thick, 4 x 8 sheets of insulation under the new siding (which increased our wall insulation by 30%) and use foam insulation around all the windows, which were big sources of air leaks.   He also suggested installing 4 x 8 sheets of foam board on the underside of our house (our house is built on posts off the ground) and then blow in cellulose insulation. This would effectively eliminate leaks coming through our tongue and groove flooring and give our floor R-30 insulation.  He also suggested steps to reduce the cold air coming into our small cellar, which was traveling into the upstairs living space.

The home energy audit Envinity conducted on our home was the single best thing we could have done to make our home more energy efficient and comfortable.  Brian’s recommendations to tighten up our house has cut air infiltration in half, and today our kids remark how comfortable our house is, after living in a leaky house while growing up.  Air sealing and insulating are the two of the cheapest and best things you can do to make your home more comfortable and energy efficient.  And a home energy audit from Envinity should be the first step in that process so that you can get expert advice that is both practical and affordable."
