Project Description

Geisinger Dickson City Cancer Center is a new facility dedicated to expanding access to advanced cancer care. It contains 22 infusion bays, a hematology and oncology clinic with 17 exam rooms, and dedicated spaces for multidisciplinary care and palliative care. It will also provide radiation oncology as well as a pharmacy and laboratory services. Clinical equipment included a PET/CT, CT Sim, and Linear Accelerator. The construction timeline was condensed to 15 months; a strict deadline for first patients was set by the owner and achieved by the construction and commissioning team.

Cx Scope

Commissioning was focused on Construction, Acceptance and Warranty Phases. The Cx scope included monitoring-based commissioning (MBCx) during Acceptance phase and for Warranty monitoring. 100% of VAV were actively functionally tested using SkySpark FDD software and all BAS equipment included Acceptance and Warranty Phase FDD monitoring. A full-building, integrated systems Power Loss and Recovery “Blackout” Test (PLRT) was performed in conjunction with engineer, contractors, and owner-user stakeholders. The Cx process facilitated an on-time turn-over and headed off several major issues relating to cooling capacity, humidification, emergency power, and clinical process cooling.
