Envinity Receives $50,000 Energy Audit Grant from the Penelec Sustainable Energy Fund of the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies

STATE COLLEGE, PA, (June 10,2020) The Penelec Sustainable Energy Fund of the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies (hereafter referred to as the Penelec SEF) has presented Envinity, Inc. of State College with a $50,000 grant. The grant will enable Envinity to conduct ten (10) ASHRAE Level II energy audits at small commercial and nonprofit facilities in Penelec Territory.

“We thank the Penelec SEF of the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies for selecting Envinity to conduct these small commercial energy audits” said Kate Gregory, Project Manager. “It is an honor for us to support the mission of the Penelec SEF, and to collaborate with small commercial clients and nonprofits in our community to further their energy efficiency goals.”

This grant will help commercial clients remove financial barriers to identifying and resolving energy efficiency issues in their facility. Each client will receive a reduced-cost ASHRAE Level II energy audit, a report detailing existing facility conditions, and a list of ranked energy efficiency recommendations and payback.

“Our advisory board often reviews grant requests for energy efficiency building upgrades. In order for them to assess which projects will have the greatest impact in terms of energy savings, they look for organizations that have a good understanding of their building’s overall energy use and performance,” said Angie Berzonski, CFA Associate Director. “Energy Audits are an important first step toward a goal of reducing kilowatt hours and improving operating costs for many existing buildings. We aim to support building owners in their efforts to become more energy efficient by partnering them with Envinity to do a deeper dive and prioritize their next steps.”

Any small businesses and nonprofits in Penelec territory interested in a reduced-cost commercial energy audit are encouraged to email [email protected]  for more information.
